About

Growing up Chris was first exposed to art through skateboarding. Skateboard graphics and the graffiti surrounding the local skate spots were his early sources of inspiration and encouraged him to start creating art of his own. As he got older he spent less time on a skateboard and more with a spraycan. As he has matured as an artsist his medium and style has changed but the urban environments and experiences growing up have remained a well of inspiration he continues to draw from. His current work shows a merging of figure and ground. A juxtaposition of people and the places that surround them. Based in traditional realism Chris is pushing the boundaries of realism to a more abstract emotive state to emphasise feeling over a rationalized rendering. His work is created with a variety of mediums and materials, however traditional oil painting serves as his ongoing medium of choice.
